The Dynamic Life Health Center in Southlake is Now Offering Bioidentical Hormone Pellets!
Are you interested in Bioidentical Hormone Therapy but don’t want to keep up with daily pills, injections, creams, or other application methods? Hormone pellets are beneficial to both women and men, and a nice benefit is that you only have to have a pellet inserted every 3 – 6 months! They are super convenient since you won’t have to remember to take a daily pill, use a daily cream, or remember to change a patch!
We at Dynamic Life Health Center in Southlake specialize in Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy and offer all methods of application to our patients based on their specific preferences. However, we understand that many folks do prefer the ease of pellets, and we’re excited to bring this service to our clinic.

Benefits of Pellet Therapy
Pellets only need to be reinserted every 3-4 months for women and every 5-6 months for men. Once inserted, they dissolve naturally over a period of time and then all that’s needed is to have a new pellet inserted which only takes about 30-minutes! They are great for people on the go, those who travel a lot, or people who just simply don’t want to have to remember to take their hormones every day. You receive a steady dose of hormones continually throughout the life of the pellet.
Another advantage is that pellets are absorbed directly by your tissues, and do not have to go through your digestive system for processing. Once inserted, you will usually begin to feel the benefits within 2-3 days. There’s no one-size-fits-all dosage for pellets; each one is compounded specifically for you based on your lab results and symptoms.
Since a pellet is only about the size of a tic-tac, insertion is done in the hip/buttocks area under a local anesthetic. The procedure only takes about 20-30 minutes, and then you’re ready to go! You may feel some slight tenderness after the anesthetic wears off, but this should only last for a few days at most. We do recommend that women not do any strenuous activity for 2 days, and men for 7 days, in order to avoid the pellet becoming dislodged.

Many men find it much easier to have testosterone pellets versus having to take injections; one study showed that 95% of men who were on pellet therapy were highly satisfied compared to 75% who were using injections to receive their testosterone.
Women who use pellets also love the convenience and the way they make them feel. We do not offer pellets containing estrogen to women who still have their uterus, since this can cause spotting and/or bleeding. We do however offer pellets with testosterone to women.

Symptoms of Imbalanced Hormones
Many things can cause hormones to fluctuate such as illness, obesity, stress, diet, and more, but the most common thing to cause hormonal levels to decline is age. On average, women will enter into the perimenopause stage in their early to late forties, and hit menopause usually in their early fifties. Not everyone is average though so some women may begin earlier or later than others. Men also go through a hormonal decline called Andropause, though they may not realize that their symptoms are hormonal related. We can certainly help you to feel better and experience a better quality of life!

Whole Body Approach
What differentiates us from some other hormone clinics is that we take an individualized and customized approach to balancing your hormones and keeping you healthy. Our focus is to proactively manage your health and help prevent future illness by using the latest preventative and screening tests. We also provide you with the time necessary to address all of your health care concerns.
Here at the Dynamic Life Health Center, we incorporate a Functional Medicine approach into our practice. This allows us to address the underlying causes of hormonal issues and chronic illness using a systems-oriented approach and engages both the patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. In other words, we focus on the whole person, and not just their list of symptoms.
Functional medicine is the practice of finding the root cause of disease and unwellness. It involves evaluating the interaction of lifestyle, genetics, scientific lab work, and environment so we can help you stay educated, healthy, and live a life of vitality!
The lab testing we run is extremely comprehensive. In order to truly balance your hormones so you can feel your best, it is crucial to look at whole-body health. We are committed to doing our absolute best to help you live your best life.
Most patients who choose Hormone Replacement Therapy love the enhanced quality of life. Many patients report that they experience improved libido and sex drive, weight loss, and greater mental sharpness. Best of all, like other methods of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, you will feel younger, and have an overall sense of well-being! While Pellet Therapy is gaining in popularity, this type of therapy has actually been used for almost 70-years. Of course, since that time, both the medications and the administration methods have evolved considerably to meet the needs of patients!
Physician Assistant Melanie Martin Offering Hormone Pellet Treatment in Southlake
Melanie Martin, PA-C, is Dr. Berutti’s Physician Assistant who has been practicing medicine for a total of 30 years. About half way through her career, she realized that the “conventional medicine” approach wasn’t always meeting her patients’ health goals and that the gaps in that system did not promote wellness and optimal health. Melanie decided that she could better help people by using a more integrative approach so she decided to make a career change 14 years ago so that she could do just that. She has years of experience with pellet therapy and heads up our program here at Dynamic Life Health Center.
Melanie believes that the key to truly helping patients is to be able to spend plenty of time with them in order to have ample opportunity to listen to their needs. She incorporates a collaborative approach so that everyone feels involved, educated, and empowered with their personal health care.
She has trained and worked under some of the top functional medicine practitioners in the area and is happy to be a part of Dr. Berutti’s team. She’s also excited to focus on helping her patients get to the root cause(s) of their symptoms and illnesses so they can achieve optimal health and wellness.
